Hodge was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina on September 20, 1986. His parents, Aldis Basil Hodge and Yolette Evangeline Richardson, both served in the U.S. Marine Corps. While his mother is from Florida, his father is originally from Dominica. Edwin Hodge, his older brother, is also an actor.
As a child, Aldis Hodge played both the clarinet and violin and currently still plays the latter.
