The Senate is expected to recess this week (likely between Wednesday and Friday) in order to give lawmakers campaigning time ahead of the November mid-term elections. While few thought senators could get anything significant done on energy before the midterms, it’s now all but certain.
Time is ticking away, and now Democrats’ best hope of passing a renewable energy standard, an oil spill response bill and any other energy legislation is in a lame-duck session. Of course, as I’ve noted before, the lame-duck legislative agenda will likely be dependent on the outcome of the midterms.
