Geithner to Testify on AIG
Via The Hill, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will appear before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee later this month to testify on his role surrounding the $62 billion funneled through the AIG bailout to other Wall Street firms — payments that officials at the New York Federal Reserve, which Geithner used to head, reportedly tried to hide.
Panel Chairman Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) issued the formal invite earlier today. The news that Geithner will accept came through an anonymous congressional aide, according to The Hill.
The hearing is scheduled for Jan. 27.
