Former Gov. Blagojevich (D-Ill.) lost everything this year. Blagojevich stands accused of trying to “sell” the appointment to replace Barack Obama in the Senate. This past April, Blagojevich was indicted on corruption charges, though he has maintained his innocence. A trial is underway, but Illinois state lawmakers weren’t interested in waiting around for a legal decision — the state legislature impeached Blagojevich in January 2009 and prohibited him from ever holding another office in the state.
