Allen West Goes Viral
Back in October I spoke to congressional candidate Allen West, a retired lieutenant colonel from Florida who stood to become one of the GOP’s highest-profile African-American candidates in 2010. WND brings my attention to what the far-right site calls, accurately, a “viral video” of West saying much the same things he said to me. As of Monday morning it had nearly 1.4 million YouTube views and 2,119 comments like “I don’t live in his state — but after hearing his views, an [sic] hoping someone convinces him to run? for president!”
WND provides some background on West’s expulsion from the army, which occurred after he fired a 9mm next to a detainee’s head.
“„In an interview during last year’s campaign, West told WND his controversial ordeal in 2003 – during which he drew support from congressmen and many Americans who regarded him as a hero – should tell voters what kind of a lawmaker he would be, particularly when it comes to issues of defense.
“„“If you’re a bad guy, and you try to get between me and the safety and lives of American citizens, you’re going to lose,” West said.
