If Only He Was a Birther
A military court ordered Victor Agosto, an Army signalman with III Corps based out of Ft. Hood, jailed for refusing to go to Afghanistan due to his belief that it’s an illegal war. Actually, Agosto didn’t refuse to deploy. He was jailed after not showing up to an office where his pre-deployment paperwork would be filed, according to The New York Times.
So: Dave Weigel can correct me, but it appears Agosto would have gotten off easier had he simply said President Obama isn’t an American citizen. (Well, maybe not, since birther Stefan F. Cook was on a voluntary deployment as a reservist — I don’t quite understand the circumstances there — and appears to have used that as a publicity stunt to peddle his conspiracy theory. But still.)
