Rev. Jeremiah Wright is about to have another moment. Actually, a few moments.
Barack Obama’s controversial former pastor has taped an interview with Bill Moyers that’s scheduled to run Friday on PBS.
According to an excerpt reviewed by The New York Times, Wright told Moyers his sermons were unfairly distorted. “I felt it was unjust. I felt it was untrue. I felt for those who were doing that, we’e doing it for some very devious reasons,” Wright said.
Wright is also scheduled to deliver the keynote address Sunday night at the Detroit branch of the NAACP’s annual Fight for Freedom Fund dinner. A crowd of about 10,000 is expected and, interestingly enough, the theme for the evening is "A Change is Going to Come."
But the Wright media tour doesn’t end there. On Monday he’ll be the breakfast speaker at the National Press Club in Washington. His talk is entitled "The African American Religious Experience: Theology & Practice," and it’s sold out.
Has he cleared all this with the Obama campaign?
