During this weekend’s Florida Tea Party Convention, Craig Miller became the second GOP candidate in Florida’s Senate race to insult Occupy Wall Street protesters.
Groups in Florida have been rallying in solidarity with the New York-based movement that has spread all over the country for weeks now. The protesters have expressed dissatisfaction with a range of issues including high unemployment, income inequality and corporate greed.
According to The Daytona Beach News-Journal, Miller had some advice for Occupy Wall Street protesters: “Get off your ass and go get a job.”
Fast Companyreports that a poll of 1,619 people on Oct. 5 debunked the stereotype that supporters of Occupy Wall Street are mostly unemployed. The poll found that only 12 percent of the protesters were unemployed. Forty-seven percent of the protesters reported having a full-time job and 20 percent reported having a part-time job.
Last month, Adam Hasner called Occupy Wall Street supporters “anarchists,” “extremists” and “thugs” in an email to supporters.
