New Mexico’s congressional delegation split on the debt ceiling deal that passed the House by a 269-161 voteMonday, with most Republicans and half of Democrats voting for the bill.
Democratic Albuquerque Rep. Martin Heinrich voted for the bill. Democratic Rep. Ben Ray Lujan voted against it, as did Republican Rep. Steve Pearce, joining 66 other Republicans in opposition.
The Budget Control Act of 2011 raisesthe debt ceiling through 2013 and cuts spending by $2.1 trillion.
The Senate is set to vote on the bill Tuesday at noon EST.
