A subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee has passed a bill that would require the Obama administration to make a decision on the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry tar sands oil from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast of Texas, by Nov. 1.
The bill, HR 1938, is co-sponsored by Rep. Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph) and is expected to be approved by the full committee, which Upton chairs, next week. It should get a vote of the full House sometime in the next month.
