Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain will be in the Sunshine State this week, for stops in both Tampa and Sanford. #
Cain, who recently visited Jacksonville to speak at the annual National Right to Life Conference, will be appearing in Tampa on Friday for a keynote address during a “Salute the Troops” lunch at the Republican National Hispanic Assembly. On Saturday, he will stop in Sanford, to deliver a keynote address during the “Conservative Road from the I-4 Corridor” rally. #
Cain, the self-made millionaire and former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, has done fairly well in recent straw polls, but is arguably not as well known as other GOP hopefuls like Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann. #
Though he has made known his stance on abortion (he is against it), Cain has been less vocal about his stance on gay marriage. Though he has lambasted President Obamafor his failure to defend a federal ban on gay marriage, he has yet to comment on a pledgedrafted by the National Organization for Marriage, which Perry signed. (In doing so, Perry promises to support a federal constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, defend the Defense of Marriage Act in court, nominate judges and an attorney general who are committed to “applying the original meaning of the Constitution,” and appoint a presidential commission to investigate the “harassment of traditional marriage supporters.”) #
