Timothée Chalamet is an American actor who was born on December 27, 1995. Chalamet started his acting career in short films and commercials before landing a role in Homeland, a TV drama series, in 2012. He made his feature film debut two years later in the comedy-drama Men, Women, and Children, and then in the science-fiction picture Interstellar.
Chalamet had his debut in 2017 as Elio Perlman in Luca Guadagnino's coming-of-age romance drama Call Me by Your Name, followed by roles in the coming-of-age flicks Hot Summer Nights and Lady Bird, as well as the western picture Hostiles.

Luca Guadagnino directed the 2017 coming-of-age romance drama film Call Me by Your Name (Italian: Chiamami col tuo nome). Set in northern Italy in 1983, Call Me by Your Name follows Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a 17-year-old, and Oliver (Armie Hammer), a 24-year-old graduate-student assistant to Elio's father (Michael Stuhlbarg), an archaeological professor. Amira Casar, Esther Garrel, and Victoire Du Bois also appear in the film.
Producers Peter Spears and Howard Rosenman optioned the rights to Aciman's book in 2007, and production started in 2008. Ivory was tapped to direct with Guadagnino, but he stepped down in 2016. Guadagnino began working on the film as a location scout and rose through the ranks to become the only director and co-producer. Call Me by Your Name was sponsored by several multinational businesses, and the majority of the filming took place in Crema, Lombardy, during May and June 2016.
Rather than using digital photography, cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom utilized 35mm film. One of the major filming sites, Villa Albergoni, was decorated for weeks by the filmmakers. Guadagnino selected the film's music, which includes two original songs by Sufjan Stevens, an American singer-songwriter.
Call Me by Your Name was purchased by Sony Pictures Classics before its debut at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2017.
