Uisdtyler- The United Independent School District (UISD) will celebrate its 60th year of educational excellence and commitment to student academic success during the 2021–202 school year. The origins of Uisdtyler may be traced back to the spring of 1961 when trustees from three Webb County school districts gathered to discuss merging into one system.
Cactus, located 28 miles north of Laredo on the Callaghan Ranch; Johnson, located in south Laredo on the Zapata Highway; and Nye, initially located on the south end of Santa Maria Avenue, were the three common districts functioning at the time. Other schools in the county had already joined together in 1945 and 1959.
The 1961–1962 school year was the first for UISD, which served about 340 students in grades one through nine. In the fall of 1963, United's Junior/Senior High School attracted national notice for its innovative subterranean architecture. It was the first school in the country to be intended to serve as a community shelter in the case of an atomic attack, and it served as a model for over 300 schools across the country.
Heat and cooling costs were lower in the subterranean classrooms. The school has gained national praise and has been recognized by the Department of Defense. Projected district enrollment numbers for 2022–2023 are estimated to be over 43,000 students.

By registering each year, you make sure that United I.S.D. has all of the information it needs to give your child the best education possible.
A Tyler Parent Portal account should have been created if you registered your child or children or enrolled at any of the United I.S.D. campuses. Please contact your child's campus for help if you did not get it or do not recall receiving it. You must meet with the registrar on campus and present a valid email account.
A student must have at least one and two emergency contacts. You may modify information about existing connections, such as phone numbers, while you're on the Parent/Contact Information form. Simply make sure the contact's phone number is active and that the individual accepts being one of your contacts.
