Complete Series Of Transformers Movies In Order With Storyline

Transformers is an American science fiction action film franchise that started in the 1980s and is based on the Transformers property.

Transformers (2007), Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Dark of the Moon (2011), Age of Extinction (2014), and The Last Knight (2015) are the first five films directed by Michael Bay (2017).

On December 21, 2018, Bay released Bumblebee, a spin-off film directed by Travis Knight and produced by him. In 2022, a seventh film, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, directed by Steven Caple Jr. and a sequel to Bumblebee, will be produced.

Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures are responsible for the distribution of the series. Except for Bumblebee, who got favorable reviews, the original Transformers series had a negative to mixed response.

With a total of $4.8 billion, it is the 13th highest-earning film series, with two features making over $1 billion apiece.

Transformers (2007)

The Transformers franchise has spawned six films since its inception in 2007, including a spin-off film for the character Bumblebee. With a number of additional projects in the works, it's obvious that this series isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

These shape-shifting robots have had comparable durability in their appearance on the silver screen as the Transformers had in the toy aisle. However, it's easy to become confused among the six current Transformers films in terms of where specific events fit within the timeline.

These films not only adapted key elements of the already known Transformers mythos, but they also presented the concept of Autobots and Decepticons having a major effect on human history.

This has resulted in non-linear digressions throughout the movie, taking the spectator from the days of King Arthur to the demise of dinosaurs, and everything in between. The most current chapter of the series, Bumblebee, is set in the 1980s, two decades before the first film.

The Transformers movies are nearly as fond of time travel as they are of giant robots that transform into different modes of transportation. Given this, determining precisely where each film takes place in time may be difficult.

In order to address this issue, we've put up an in-depth guide on how to watch every film in the Transformers franchise, both chronologically and by release date. It's never been simpler to make sense of this franchise's wonderfully bizarre history.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen (2009)

Revenge of the Fallen is set in 2009, which means there will be allusions to the Global Financial Crisis of 2007, as well as short news footage of President Barack Obama. Sam Witwicky is now off to college, two years after the first film.

His academic goals, however, are endangered when he encounters a fragment of the AllSpark and begins acting strangely. Meanwhile, Megatron's revival has enabled an archvillain Decepticon known as The Fallen to carry out his evil intentions.

These plans include the Giza Pyramids in some way, which means we're in for a spectacular battle set against a historical background. But before all of that mayhem, Revenge of the Fallen begins with a prologue set around 17,000 B.C. on Earth.

A crew of Transformers is shown in this scene constructing a Star Harvester, a machine that would be used in the film's finale. The robots are found by cavemen as they are doing this, setting in motion the first (but far from the final) violent confrontation between man and machine.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon (2011)

Michael Bay directed Transformers: Dark of the Moon, a 2011 American science fiction action disaster film based on the Transformers toy brand. It is the third live-action Transformers film and the sequel to Revenge of the Fallen (2009). It's also the first time DreamWorks Animation hasn't co-produced a picture in the franchise, leaving Paramount Pictures as the sole distributor.

Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, John Malkovich, and Frances McDormand appear in the picture, which also stars Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, John Malkovich, and Frances McDormand.

Set two years after Revenge of the Fallen, it follows the warring Autobots and Decepticons as they fight for control of tremendous technology from their homeworld that has fallen on Earth's Moon in order to rebuild their homeworld.

Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Sideswipe, Wheelie, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, and Barricade are among the returning Transformers.

Ehren Kruger wrote the screenplay. With shooting sites in Chicago, Florida, Indiana, Milwaukee, Moscow, and Washington, D.C., Dark of the Moon used both standard 35mm film cameras and specially designed 3-D equipment.

The film was created with 3-D in mind, and the visual effects included more sophisticated robots that required longer to produce. The release date for Dark of the Moon was pushed back from July 1 to June 29 to allow for an early reaction to the trailer.

On June 28, 2011, exclusive early screenings in select 3D and IMAX theaters were held, one night before the film's global release in 2D and 3D (including IMAX 3D) formats, each with Dolby Surround 7.1 sound.

Critics gave the picture mixed reviews, praising the visual effects, action scenes, musical soundtrack, voice acting, and usage of 3D while criticizing the length, plot, performances, and script. Dark of the Moon was the sixth highest-grossing picture of all time and the second-highest-grossing film of 2011, earning $1.124 billion globally.

It was nominated for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects at the 84th Academy Awards, much as the previous film. Age of Extinction, the sequel, was published in June 2014.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction (2014)

Transformers: Age of Extinction is a science fiction action film based on the Transformers toy line that was released in 2014. It is the fourth live-action Transformers film and the sequel to Dark of the Moon (2011), taking place five years after the events of the previous film.

It was directed by Michael Bay and written by Ehren Kruger, with Steven Spielberg and Bay serving as executive producers, as was the case with the previous films.

Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Bingbing Li, Titus Welliver, and T. J. Miller star in the film, which is directed by Mark Wahlberg.

It replaces the original human cast from the previous three films with a new human cast as well as a slew of new Transformers, notably the Dinobots. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Brains, and Megatron are among the returning Transformers (now known as Galvatron). Ehren Kruger wrote the script for the film.

Age of Extinction was the first feature film to use smaller digital IMAX cameras, as well as IMAX 70mm film cameras, digital stereo 3-D, and anamorphic and spherical 35mm film. The film was released in IMAX and 3D on June 27, 2014. Critics largely panned Transformers: Age of Extinction because of its length, acting, script, and directing.

The film was a box office triumph, earning more than $1.104 billion worldwide on a budget of $210 million, making it the highest-grossing picture of 2014, the tenth-highest-grossing film of all time, and the only film of 2014 to make more than $1 billion. The Last Knight, the sequel, was published in June 2017.

Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)

Transformers: The Last Knight is a science fiction action film based on the Transformers toy line that was released in 2017. It's the sixth live-action Transformers film, and it's the sequel to Age of Extinction (2014).

The film is directed by Michael Bay, and it stars Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, and Glenn Morshower, as well as Laura Haddock, Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Santiago Cabrera, and Anthony Hopkins, who all reprise their roles from the previous three films.

Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Hound, Drift, Crosshairs, Wheelie, Megatron, and Barricade are among the returning Transformers.

On June 18, 2017, the film debuted at the Odeon Leicester Square in London, and Paramount Pictures distributed it in theaters on June 21, 2017. The film received negative reviews from reviewers and is the Transformers franchise's worst-reviewed feature.

The film's length, storyline, direction, narrative, lack of character development, script, cinematography, overuse of shaky cam, and numerous format changes throughout were all criticized.

It was nominated for 10 categories at the 38th Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, and Worst Actor for Wahlberg.

The Transformers: The Movie (1986) was the franchise's first box-office disaster, earning $605 million worldwide against a production budget of $217–260 million, resulting in a loss of over $100 million for both Paramount and Hasbro.

Bumblebee (2018)

The franchise's first spin-off is set in the 1980s, the decade in which the Transformers animated series originally aired. Set in 1987, this film depicts Bumblebee falling to Earth and encountering human adolescent Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld).

As Charlie learns to move on from the loss of her biological father, and Bumblebee learns to become the Earth's defender that Optimus Prime imagined he might be, the two become unexpected allies.

Unlike the previous films in the franchise, Bumblebee never takes a break to visit other time periods. This contains the film's conclusion and mid-credits scenes, in which Bumblebee separates from Charlie and rejoins the freshly arriving Optimus Prime.
