Selena Gomez accused of breaking SAG-AFTRA strike rules, posting a video that has since been taken down. Only Murders in the Building is about three strangers who are trying to figure out what happened to the people who died in their Upper West Side apartment.
Martin Short and Steve Martin both star in the show, and Martin also helped create and write it. The fact that Charles (Martin), Mabel (Gomez), and Oliver (Short) all like true-crime podcasts leads the three of them to make their own podcast series about what they find. Even though season 3 is now available on Hulu, the group can't promote the mystery comedy because of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Selena Gomez is in a bit of trouble because she posted on Instagram about her Hulu show Only Murders in the Building. Many of her fans think she broke the rules of the actors' strike by doing this.
But Instagram users are upset with Gomez because she posted a video that tagged the Only Murders in the Building account. Varietysays that Gomez wrote "missing and wanting" as the caption for the post, which got over 1.1 million likes in 15 hours before she took it down from her account. Selena Gomez is the most followed woman on Instagram, with over 428 million followers. She is the third most followed person in the world, after soccer players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. During the current protests, SAG-AFTRA's strike rules say that members can't promote work in interviews or social media posts. Gomez did share a video of the Only Murders set, but she didn't talk in the video or tell people to watch it in the caption. She did tag the show's main account. But it's not clear if that breaks the rules or not.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), which represent more than 160,000 film and TV actors, went on strike on July 14. They were unable to reach a deal with major Hollywood studios and streaming services by the deadline of July 12. Because of this, almost all productions in Hollywood have had to stop. This has already had an effect on the industry, as premieres, press tours, projects, and sets have been canceled or left unfinished.
Since May 2, the Writers' Guild of America has been on strike, and both famous actors and writers have been seen on the picket line. Two big Hollywood guilds are going on strike at the same time for the first time since 1960.
Actors want better pay and perks, like residuals that show how much their work is worth. This is because streaming services are becoming more popular, artificial intelligence needs to be used in a controlled way, and self-recorded auditions are a problem. In the same way, writers want better residual pay in the streaming era, among other hot-button problems.
Gomez has had a busy week otherwise. On Friday (August 25), she shared her new song, "Single Soon," along with a lighthearted music video. "Y’all have been asking for new music for a while,"she wrote on Instagram a week before the song came out, along with a gorgeous photo of the song's cover art.
Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer.- Selena Gomez
Since 2020's Rare, the star hasn't put out a full-length record, but she did release the all-Spanish EP Revalación the following year.
