Pro-repeal Republicans continue to provide health care for staffers

Pro-repeal Republicans continue to provide health care for staffers

As the debate over the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act rages on following the decision handed down by a Florida judge representing that the health care overhaul contains unconstitutional mandates, much of the media has ignored the fact that nearly all GOP lawmakers in Congress pushing for repeal — as well as their staffs — currently accept government-sponsored health care. # Only eight Republican members of the House have opted out of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan, which in 2008 covered some 8.5 million federal workers and their dependents at a cost of $15 billion to taxpayers.

Priests for Life president ‘remains suspended’

Priests for Life president ‘remains suspended’

A recent letter from Bishop Patrick Zurek to members of the diocese of Amarillo, Texas, states that Priests for Life President Frank Pavone “remains suspended” from activities outside his diocese. Despite efforts from other members of the anti-abortion rights movement to end the suspension, Zurek said in a public statement recently that Pavone “is to remain in the Diocese for an indefinite period of time for prayer and reflection.” Pavone’s suspension was announced earlier last month over allegations of “financial improprieties.” Zurek wrote in his first letter announcing the suspension that his “decision is the result of deep concerns regarding his stewardship over the finances of the Priests for Life (PFL) organization. The PFL has become a business that is quite lucrative which provides Father Pavone with financial independence from all legitimate ecclesiastical oversight.” Via LifeSiteNews : LifeSiteNews spoke with Fr.
