"My head is throbbing." This is not just a made up way of shrugging off responsibility. And, America has over 25,000,000 people who live with the agony of migraines. And it’s no laughing matter. But there are remedies from nature that can provide you with both quick and long-term relief.
Migraine pains can last anywhere between 6 and 48 hours and may totally disable the unlucky sufferer. There are many different symptoms, but they frequently include extreme pulsing pain, mostly on just one side of the head.
No one knows the exact cause of migraines, but recently published research is pointing to inflammation as a major factor. This inflammation can be caused by tension and the resulting stress, alcohol, chocolate, hormones (particularly when a woman is ovulating or menstruating), food additives like MSG and even presc3ription meds like birth controls pills.

Main Categories Of Migraine Headaches

The common and the classic are the two main categories of migraine headaches. About 80% fall into the common migraine-type category without an aura. These migraines are generally much less painful than the classic type with auras. An aura is a disturbance in a person's eyes, usually something like flashing lights or seeing spots, shapes, or patterns. Auras are sometimes accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
Ocular migraines are often confused with classic migraines. Even though the aura may be close to the same, it only happens in one eye. Also, the following headache is usually less painful The symptoms don't last very long and aren’t harmful to the eye. Ocular migraines will definitely get in the way of reading or driving.
Often times, the best relief can be found in a dark, quiet room with an ice pack applied to the major source of pain. Most migraines will disappear after a rest period of six to twelve hours.
Once the headache is gone, you need to find a way to prevent getting any more. Making easy lifestyle changes can often permanently eliminate headaches. Eliminating stress in your life is a fabulous place to get started. This may be difficult in the beginning, but it's definitely worth it.
The next 2 things you can do are to start a regular moderate exercise program and switch to a healthier migraine-free diet. You should avoid foods that have been known to trigger headaches. These foods include caffeinated coffee and other sources of caffeine, any type of chocolate, any type of sugar, carbonated drinks, alcohol, white flour and rice, and any type of desserts. Since some of these foods are rather addictive, take yourself off them slowly to avoid any discomfort.
You can actually learn to enjoy eating a whole food diet with lots of fresh vegetables, whole grains, fresh fruit, lean protein, and clean water. And, in order to eliminate the swelling and associated pain and discomfort from the headaches, start taking high-quality omega 3 supplements.
So go ahead and get started on these simple lifestyle changes. They'll help you make sure there are no migraines in your future!
