The family home is an essential part of everyone’s life. For you and your partner, it’s the chance to start your life and gain some independence, especially if you’ve lived with your parents longer than you wanted. The suburbs are the go-to place if you want peacefulness, but you can also find relatively quiet places in the city if you know where to look.

Saying that even suburbia can come with its share of noise and disruptions. The lack of noise can amplify even the smallest sounds, which could become bothersome if you’re not expecting them. You’re still better off in the suburbs anyway, though, especially if sleep is important to you.


Thinking about home security is something that every homeowner needs to consider. You might feel safer in the suburbs, but some criminal gangs might leave the city to prey on the overly trusting nature of people who aren't used to city living.

You should also think about your kids. You want to let them play and have fun, but being too close to busy roads or letting them roam through unfamiliar areas might put you on edge. With these issues in mind, you should check local statistics wherever you go and always stay vigilant without being unnecessarily scared of something happening. The chances are you’ll be fine, but there’s nothing wrong with being careful.
