Reducing the Appearance of Stretch Marks after Pregnancy

Stretch marks are stripes that mark the skin, particularly in the stomach, chest, and hip region. They appear as a product of the disorganized collagen network and the rupture of dermal elastin fiber. Stretch marks can occur during sudden changes in body size, such as during pregnancy or rapid weight gain.

Most pregnant women will get stretch marks across their belly, hips, and thighs, and, sadly, they appear to be genetic—if your mom has stretch marks, you might as well.

Getting Rid Of Stretch Marks

You can use stretch marks cream to help in reducing, if not getting rid of your stretch marks. What should you look for a cream?

  • Promotes healthy skin
  • Helps increase the production of collagen and elastin in the epidermis
  • Increases the elasticity and strength of the skin
  • Decreases the appearance of existing stretch marks
  • Effectively prevents the development of stretch marks
  • Keeps skin healthy and firm
  • Is easy to apply

You can also have your own research or ask your doctor what to do in order to reduce existing stretch marks or at least lessen them. When looking for a cream, you should see if it contains the following:

Squalene Oil

This ingredient is taken from olive oil, it works similar to natural skin oil thus protecting the skin’s surface and helps reduce the appearance of scars especially those that arise from stretch mark formation. Since it is a natural oil, skin healing is also natural thus making it soft and healthy.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is known as a powerful antioxidant that has a role to play too when it comes to skin regeneration. It is available in many different forms like alpha, delta, beta, and tocopherol. In topical applications, alpha-tocopherol is considered the best form of Vitamin E. In a stretch mark cream, this vitamin works to stimulate new cell production thus reducing the likelihood of stretch mark formation.

Vitamin A

This is also one of the most essential vitamins that help the skin renew itself. It regulates skin cell growth while making sure there is an improved appearance of striate or stretch marks.

Vitamin D3

If you want to have better skin cells, Vitamin D3 is one of the vitamins to trust together of course with Vitamins A and E. This is normally produced in the skin’s upper layers and is absorbed in the skin through sun exposure. This is of much help in skin rejuvenation.

Pro-vitamin B5

This vitamin, on the other hand, offers much help in improving the skin’s structure from the lower up to the upper layers. It soothes the skin, thus promoting skin health and regeneration. It also can help prevent stretch marks as it boosts collagen and elastin production.

Aloe Vera Extract

Aloe Vera is known to be an anti-inflammatory. With this said, you will surely love to have it in a pack of stretch mark cream. It helps heal the skin, reduces scar appearance at the same time moisturizes the dermis.

Grapefruit Seed Extract

This ingredient is also trusted when it comes to overall skin health since, like Pro-Vitamin B5, it also boosts elastin and collagen production. It is also tasked to strengthen and retexture the skin thus improving the connective tissue cells.
