The Tree Of Life (2011)

Terrence Malick's epic experimental drama film The Tree of Life was released in 2011 and starred Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Hunter McCracken, Laramie Eppler, Jessica Chastain, and Tye Sheridan in his feature film debut.
The video tells the story of the origins and purpose of life via the eyes of a middle-aged man's boyhood recollections of his family in 1950s Texas, interwoven with images of the beginnings of the known cosmos and life on Earth. The Tree of Life debuted in competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d'Or, after many years in production and missing its scheduled 2009 and 2010 release dates.
It topped review aggregator Metacritic's "Top Ten List of 2011," and appeared on more reviewers' year-end lists than any other film in 2011. It was voted one of the best 250 films in the world by Sight & Sound reviewers in 2012.

In A Most Violent Year, Chastain is partnered with Oscar Isaac, another talented actor. In the film, Isaac portrays an ambitious businessman who must deal with the growing violence in his environment during the city's worst year, 1981. Chastain portrays his wife, who worries that her husband isn't up to the task.
In this gripping drama, both Isaac and Chastain deliver excellent and realistic performances. Despite not being the violent crime epic that the title implies, it is a compelling tale.

Lawless (2012)

Chastain was part of a superb cast that helped make up for the historical crime drama. During Prohibition, Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, and Jason Clarke portray brothers who run a moonshine operation in the south.
The boys must fight back as a cruel Chicago cop tries to cause problems. As a woman who becomes an ally to the brothers, Chastain plays a strong supporting role. The ensemble is fantastic, with Hardy and LeBeouf standing out as the two main characters. It's a bloody, gripping, and thrilling pulp adventure.

Molly's Game is a 2017 American biographical crime drama film directed by Aaron Sorkin (in his directorial debut) and based on Molly Bloom's 2014 book of the same name. Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Jeremy Strong, Chris O'Dowd, Joe Keery, Brian D'Arcy James, and Bill Camp appear in the film.
After the underground poker enterprise, she runs for Hollywood celebrities, sports, business tycoons, and the Russian mafia is revealed, Bloom (Chastain) becomes the focus of an FBI inquiry. In November 2016, principal photography started in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The film had its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2017, and was released in select theaters in the United States by STXfilms on December 25, 2017, before being released wide on January 5, 2018, grossing $59 million worldwide.
Molly's Game got excellent reviews, with reviewers praising Sorkin's script as well as Chastain and Elba's performances, with the former being hailed as one of her finest.

Ridley Scott's science fiction film The Martian, starring Matt Damon, was released in 2015. Drew Goddard developed the script from Andy Weir's 2011 book The Martian. The film portrays a lone astronaut's (Damon) struggle to live on Mars after being abandoned, as well as NASA's attempts to save him and return him to Earth.

The film is a co-production between the United Kingdom and the United States, produced by 20th Century Fox.
The film was developed by producer Simon Kinberg after Fox optioned the book in March 2013, which Drew Goddard turned into a screenplay and was set to direct. However, the project was never completed. Scott took over as director from Goddard, and production was authorized with Damon in the lead role.
Filming started in November 2014 and lasted for around seventy days. In Budapest, Hungary, twenty sets were constructed on one of the world's biggest sound stages. The exterior shooting took place in Jordan's Wadi Rum.

In this intriguing thriller, Chastain collaborated with another great talent, Michael Shannon. Shannon portrays a husband and father who starts to have visions of a looming storm that will wreak havoc on his town.
His wife (Chastain) is torn between trusting him and viewing him as a danger as he attempts to defend his family. Take Shelter is a slow-burning tale with a lot of tension. In the main parts, Shannon and Chastain are fantastic, delivering the innovative concept with honesty and passion.
