Chris Rock and Diplo were saved from the Burning Man disaster by a fan who had a plan. This year's Burning Man event was a disaster because the Black Rock Desert in Nevada was flooded by heavy rain this past weekend. Because of the rain, a lot of people were stuck because they couldn't get in or out. This year, DJ and music producer Diplo and comedian Chris Rock were just two of the famous people who got stuck at the popular event.

Diplo and Rock were stuck in the mud when they ran into a kind fan who helped them get away in their pickup truck. Diplo then posted about the strange experience on social media. Diplo made a video about their trip and posted it on Instagram. The video showed Rock and a group of people crammed into the back of a truck. In the video, Rock can be heard talking about how badly he wants a cold brew coffee. Diplo wrote in the video:

A fan offered Chris Rock and I a ride out of Burning Man in the back of a pick-up.- Diplo

After walking six miles [10km] through the mud … all Chris could think about was a f***ing cold brew.- Diplo

The famous DJ wrote in the video's description:

I legit walked the side of the road for hours with my thumb out cuz i have a show in dc tonight and didnt want to let yall down. Also shoutout to this guy for making the smart purchase of a truck not knowing it was for this exact moment.- Diplo

Diplo shared an update with a video of himself going barefoot to a plane on his Instagram Story, as well as a picture of himself on that plane. He wrote on the picture. Diplo was set to DJ at an event in Washington, D.C.

No one was making it out of burning man … no one believed we would get to dc for the show tonight. But God did.- Diplo

Because of the bad weather, people have been told to "shelter in place" instead of trying to leave. After it started raining Friday night, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said on Saturday that the entrance to the event had been stopped. People who still wanted to go to the event, which was supposed to last until Monday, were told in a Facebook post to "avoid traveling to the area; you will be turned around. All event access is closed."

After the floods closed roads and shut down the festival's temporary airport, festival-goers were told to "conserve food, water, and fuel, and shelter in a warm, safe space" Some of the event's organizers have set up a website with information and tools for those who will be there.

NBC News says that there was one death at the event, which is being looked into by the Pershing County Sheriff's Office. Not much is known about the person who died, including who they were and what killed them. The New York Times reports that the sheriff's office said in a statement that the victim's family had been told, but that no other information was available early Sunday because the investigation was still going on.

The festival, which has an average of 70,000 attendees each year, is called "a global ecosystem of artists, makers, and community organizers who work together to make art, events, and local initiatives around the world."

Final Words

Chris Rock and Diplo just barely got out of Burning Man. When monsoon thunderstorms left thousands of festivalgoers stuck in Nevada's Black Rock Desert on Saturday, the DJ was determined to make it to his show in Washington, D.C. that night, and a fan saved both of them.

Burning Man is one of the most well-known events in the world, but it is also thought to be one of the most dangerous. There are times when sandstorms happen quite often. Due to this situation, about 73,000 people are stuck in the Nevada desert right now.
