Oil Industry Releases Offshore Drilling Safety Recommendations « The Washington Independent
The oil industry delivered two reports to the Interior Department today outlining recommendations for responding to and preventing future oil spills. The reports are part of a broad effort by the oil industry, including powerful trade groups like the American Petroleum Institute, to review its practices in light of the Gulf oil spill.
The reports are from the Joint Industry Subsea Well Control and Containment Task Force and the Joint Industry Oil Spill Preparedness and Response Task Force, respectively. The recommendations come on the heels of a May report by the Joint Industry Task Force to Address Offshore Operating Procedures and Equipment.
I’m in the process of going through the reports and will follow up with more information.
