Litigation stemming from the massive Gulf oil spill will be consolidated in a federal court in New Orleans, a judicial panel decided today. The panel also decided that Judge Carl J. Barbier would preside over the litigation.
Barbier has been criticizedby some environmentalists because he owned bonds issued by Halliburton and Transocean, two of the companies at the center of the oil spill.
