A spokesperson for TransCanada just gave a little more detail on the company’s plans to withdrawits special permit request to pump oil at a higher pressure through its proposed Keystone XL pipeline.
Terry Cunha, spokesperson for TransCanada, told TWI that the company decided to withdraw its special permit request after going through comments from federal agencies raising questions about the waiver.
“We decided it would be best to withdraw that permit with PHMSA based on comments from federal agencies,” Cunha said.
Asked if the company would refile the special permit request later, as some advocacy groups have suggested, Cunha said, “I don’t want to speculate on what might happen in the future, but right now there are no forseeable plans in the future.”
