It’d be tough to find a group more friendly to Sen. Barack Obama than MoveOn.org, but that, it seems, doesn’t mean the liberal mobilizer isn’t prepared to push him on the issues. The group is hardly pleased, for example, about Obama’s Friday announcement that he’ll support the warrantless wiretapping proposalthat passed the House last week. Civil libertarians have skewered the bill — and its Democratic supporters— because it lets the telecoms off the hook for their participation in the controversial program.
In an email blastsent over the weekend, MoveOn reminds its members of Obama’s promise last fall to filibuster any proposal granting immunity for the telecoms.
"Can you call Sen. Obama today and tell him you’re counting on him to keep his word?" the email asks.
