Get Ready for Green Bundling
Plenty Magazine reports that the non-partisan League of Conservation Voters has a new Website called "Give Green," which brings the power of online fund-raising and donation bundling together to support environment-friendly candidates running for Congress. The idea is that eco-voter donations can pack more of a punch in larger, bundled sums. So far 100 supporters have contributed $15,241 to the project.
According to a study by ScienceDirect, donations from environmental groups affect election results about 300 times more than donations from individual donations. As more and more voters cite energy as their number one election issue, the league’s efforts could go a long way.
While it may be true that most Americans vote based on more than one issue, this type of fund-raising could be just the ticket for voters who believe that environmental and energy issues affect many other areas they care about, such as the economy and public health. And, of course, gas prices.
