Media Matters Action runs a fact-checkof Sarah Palin’s Washington Post columnon climate science. I see the function of that, but it’s clearer than ever that Palin’s not trying to stay relevant by becoming a policy wonk. For example: “„I was one of the first governors to create a subcabinetto deal specifically with the issue and to recommend common-sense policies to respond to the coastal erosion, thawing permafrost and retreating sea ice that affect Alaska’s communities and infrastructure.
What were those “common-sense solutions”? Actions like finding a way to “reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the operations of Alaska state government” and a way to “participate in carbon-trading markets, including the offering of carbon sequestration.” The sort of stuff, in other words, that’s ruthlessly mocked by conservatives. So Palin doesn’t talk about it. The point of the column was to put her on the record about “Climategate” and to make a splashy statement about Copenhagen.
