The Conservative Party’s candidate is pushing this news today: a one-day $116,000 fundraising surge on Thursday, which is impressive when you realize that Sarah Palin’s high-profile endorsement didn’t even come until 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Hoffman could use it. The new FEC report detailing his fundraising from July through October 15 reveals that he raised $205,889, putting him narrowly behind GOP candidate Dede Scozzafava, who raised $233,583. But Hoffman’s total includes a $102,000 personal loan, while Scozzafava’s includes only $12,000 of her own cash. And both of them trail Democratic candidate Bill Owens, who raised$503,297.
The good news for conservatives is that Owens’ total includes the haul from an October 7 fundraiser with President Obama. There’s no sign of a similar online cash surge. But all of this is bad news for Scozzafava.
