Eric Kleefeld sees the 40th president referred to as “Ronaldus Magnus”on the GOP’s new Website and wonders what’s going on. While it’s strange to see the phrase there, it’s not like the GOP just invented it — Rush Limbaugh has popularizedthe “Ronaldus Magnus” nickname for years. And I’ve heard it from Sean Hannity and Mark Levin — Levin is occasionally, affectionately referred to as “Marcus Magnus,” a translation of his nickname “The Great One.”
Yes, it’s strange, but this seems like a sop to the party’s base. One that probably won’t play well outside of it.
