People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch publishes one of the stirring moments in Rep. Trent Franks’ (R-Ariz.) speech to the How to Take Back America conference this past weekend in St. Louis: His accusation that President Obama’s pro-choice policies make him an “enemy of humanity.”
Sam Stein, writing aboutthe video of Franks, argues that it’s “in some ways a reflection of the extent to which religious conservatism has been marginalized in recent months.” I think that’s true insofar as you haven’t heard social conservatives in the media as much as economic conservatives, but it’s not as if their influence in the GOP conference has dimmed. Far from it — the GOP may succeed in banning abortion funding in the health care bill.
