There have been some pretty nasty banners waved around by the town hall crowds protesting the Democrats’ health overhaul plans in recent days, but none reaches the level of that held up today in Hagerstown, Md., where Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) soughtto sell the reform strategy for a second straight day. “Death to Obama,” one protester had written on “a small, handwritten cardboard sign,” according to The Hill.
On the plus side for the president, though, the sign didn’t indicate any opposition to the health care bill.
Update: The Associated Press reportsthat in addition to “Death to Obama,” the sign also read: “Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids.” The man holding the sign was taken into custody by deputies on the scene, and was turned over to the U.S. Secret Service. According to the AP, the Secret Service said an investigation is ongoing, but offered no further comment.
