GOP Congressman: Democrats Might Declare Martial Law
Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.), who apologized shortly after the 2008 election for comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler, is going back to that well. The Athens Banner-Herald reports on a town hall meeting where Broun called Democratic health care reform plans “a stinking, rotten fish.”
“„He also spoke of a “socialistic elite” – Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – who might use a pandemic disease or natural disaster as an excuse to declare martial law.
“„“They’re trying to develop an environment where they can take over,” he said. “We’ve seen that historically.”
In Broun’s defense, he might be talking about some other, non-Germany nation that hurtled into fascism during a manufactured crisis.
