Sarah Palin Passes on 2010 Senate Race « The Washington Independent

The always-remote prospect of Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) ousting her fellow Republican, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), hasjust been snuffed out. A Palin-Murkowski race made no sense whatsoever: a pitched battle that the governor was not a shoe-in to win, that wouldn’t have gotten as much coverage as, say, the Pennsylvania race for Senate, simply because media organizations probably wouldn’t dump diminishing resources into broadcasting from Anchorage and Fairbanks. And if elected, Palin wouldn’t start serving until the time that other Republicans were jumping into the 2012 primaries. In the Senate, she would be casting difficult votes instead of basically writing her ticket in Alaska.
It was always a strange idea.
