While major corporations and utility companies have accommodated themselves to the reality of climate change and the necessity of doing something about it, the irrepressible Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) wants to pick up a gun. Her target: President Obama’s proposal to create a cap-and-trade system to curb carbon emissions, which she calls an “energy tax.”
“I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerouson this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back,” she told a Minnesota radio station this weekend.
She continued:
Thomas Jefferson told us “having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,” and the people – we the people – are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States.
Bachmann is still living the fantasy of right-wing insurrection that made her notorious last fall. Back then she called for the investigation of fellow members of Congress for their allegedly “anti-American” views. Now she describes herself as “a foreign correspondent on enemy lines.” Another word for her comes to mind: paranoid.
