Laura Rozen is hearing about some irritationwith the small-but-determined coterie of GOP senators determined to scotch Chris Hill’s nomination to become U.S. ambassador to Iraq:

Indeed, now that Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.)and ex-Iraq ambassadors Zalmay Khalilzad, John Negroponte and Ryan Crocker all back Hill, it’s odd to see how a viable objection to him coalesces around some obscure aspect of Hill’s North Korea successes. Retired Gen. William Nash tells Rozen that the opposition to Hill is “being difficult to be difficult.” It’s a good thing none of these senators think the Iraq war is that important, then.
