Skateboarders Find A Paradise in Empty Pools
Well, somebody’s making the best of the foreclosure crisis: Skateboarders are having a field day practicing in the empty swimming pools of foreclosed homes, the New York Times reports.
In states like California and Florida, skateboarders check foreclosure listings, find the vacant homes, drain the pools, and skate away. The practice has become so popular it is attracting skateboarders from as far away as Germany and Australia, the story explains.
From the Times:
“„Some skateboarders use realty tracking sites like realquest.com and realtor.com to find foreclosed houses with pools, while others trawl through satellite images from Google Earth. On the Web site skateandannoy.com, where skaters trade tips about how to find and drain abandoned pools, one poster wrote about the current economic malaise. “God bless Greenspan,” the post read, “patron saint of pool skatin’.”
I’m guessing that’s one nickname The Maestro hasn’t ever been called before.
