Maine’s Allen Pulls for Obama
With the super-delegate momentum decidedly with Barack Obama, Maine Rep. Tom Allen (D) on Monday announced his endorsement for the Illinois senator — a move that could end up helping Allen at least as much as it does Obama. That’s because Allen is in the middle of a tough Senate contest with two-term incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R) — a race considered to be one of the more hotly contested in the country.
Though both Maine senators are Republicans, the state went 54 percent for Democrat John Kerry in the 2004 presidential race. Allen, no doubt, hopes to ride a similar result to an upper-chamber promotion.
