VIDEO: Bachmann’s third Iowa ad
GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, a Minnesota Congresswoman, has launched her third television ad in Iowa in her attempt to secure the GOP presidential nomination, and continuing her outreach to Iowans as the Ames Straw Poll awaits next weekend.
“Believe It” will start airing Wednesday, campaign staff said, and is embedded below.
The ad takes swipes at President Barack Obama’s economic policies, claiming the President has “driven our economy into a ditch.”
The Congresswoman also made an appeal in the ad to voters to “join me here in Ames for the Straw Poll, and let’s send a message to Washington.”
Bachmann has been eyed by political pundits and national media as a heavy contender to take top place at the Ames Straw Poll. The Washington Post has favored her to win 3-to-1; Tuesday night, Bloomberg News executive editor Al Hunt told television personality and political commentator Stephen Colbert he believes Bachmann has the momentum to take the Straw Poll.
“I would not underestimate Michele Bachmann, particularly if [Texas] Gov. Rick Perry does not get into the race,” Hunt said. “I think Bachmann has a real chance to win in Iowa, at the Straw Poll in a couple weeks, and also in the Iowa caucuses. And I’ll tell you something: the nominee will have to win either Iowa or New Hampshire, because that’s always the case.”
