Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorumannounced Monday that Iowa native Jennifer Vesey Rossman will join his campaign as senior policy advisor on health care policy and entitlement reform.
Rossman previously served as legislative assistant for health policy and as director of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee’s subcommittee on Social Security and family policy for Santorum in 2004 to 2007.
More recently she has lobbied in Washington, D.C. with the Jeffrey J. Kimbell and Associates firm, frequently working on Medicare, Medicaid and other health care issues. While lobbying she has represented several pharmaceutical companies including Abbot Laboratories, Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Astellas Pharma USA, Hoffmann-La Roche, Sunovion Pharmaceuticals and Vertos Medical.
She is a native of Muscatine and a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
“I am thrilled to once again have the opportunity to work for Senator Santorum,” Rossman said in a prepared statement. “During my time working for Senator Santorum, he proved to be one of the only members of the U.S. Senate to have the courage to level with the American people about the looming entitlement crisis facing our nation. Rick Santorum has proven time and again he has the courage to lead this nation forward, and I am excited to work with him again and his campaign to bring positive change to Washington, D.C.”
Santorum said, “Jen has proven to be a trusted advisor and counselor to me on health care and entitlement policy for nearly a decade. She has distinguished herself as a knowledgeable voice on virtually all areas of health care policy and I am looking forward to working with Jen to put together a comprehensive proposal that will bring solvency to our entitlement programs and secure them for future generations.”
