Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert took a look at The Family Leader’s “The Marriage Vow,” with a particular focus on signer Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Bachmann was the first 2012 candidate to sign the vow, which originally included this controversial passage:
“Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA’s first African-American President.”
“Bachmann is sensitive to the pain of slavery because to her, clearly, everything is slavery,” said Colbert, before offering up clips of Bachmann dubbing everything from taxation and healthcare reform to the national debt and the “gay and lesbian lifestyle” slavery.
