Jeb Bush Jr., son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, recently launched Florida Hispanic Outreach, aka SunPAC; its mission is to “promote the core Conservative values of free enterprise, limited government and fiscal and personal responsibility, in Florida and throughout the United States.” #
In an interview with Hispolitica, Bush Jr. said he started Hispanic Outreach in October to promote conservative values in Hispanic communities, and also to encourage opinion leaders in Florida to tailor their message to Hispanics. The organization’s Board of Directorsincludes: Edward Crawford of the Goldman Sachs Group and David Cardenas of the Cardenas Group, a government consulting firm with offices in Miami, Tallahassee and Washington, D.C. #
Bush Jr. added in the Hispolitica interview that Hispanics have strong, inherently conservative values: faith, family and hard work. He added that the Republican Party must focus on this demographic. #
He said that immigration remains a difficult issue, and that Florida Hispanic Outreach wants to encourage opinion leaders to focus on legal immigration, and use the demographic to improve the economy, pay off our debt and increase our tax base. #
“In 2000, 2004, 2008 whoever was able to do well with the Hispanic vote eventually won the general election,” Bush Jr added. “I think Obama sees that, I think George W. recognized that and I think it is important for the party to recognize that, too.” #
Florida Hispanic Outreach adds: #
Hispanics constitute the largest minority group in the United States, with Florida having the 3rd largest population in the Nation, according to the Pew Research Center. Many Hispanics, however, remain disengaged in the political process and are, thus, underrepresented. FLORIDA HISPANIC OUTREACH, Inc. (or “SunPAC”) was formed as an independent organization to counter that unfortunate situation. #
