Ron Paul receives endorsements from Iowa GOP operatives
GOP candidate and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) collected two more endorsements in Iowa this week, bringing the total to four in the last month.
Dubbed “grandfather of the tea party” movement by media outlets, Paul campaign staffers reported the long-time politician has received backing from Jeremiah Johnson, a member of the Republican State Central Committee.
Staffers reported
Freshmen legislators Reps. Glen Massie (R-Des Moines) and Kim Pearson (R-Pleasant Hill), both of whom have Tea Party ties and have praised Paul for his stance on the U.S. Constitution, have publicly backed Paul. Iowa House Speaker Kraig Paulsen (R-Hiawatha) has yet to publicly endorse a candidate; Iowa House Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer (R-Garner) remains as Newt Gingrich‘s Iowa volunteer campaign chairwoman.
Paul has been to Iowa six times since about the beginning of May; campaign staff expects him to return to the Hawkeye State June 27.
