US senate Candidate Haridopolos clarifies position after being kicked off conservative radio show
After a fiasco during what should have been a friendly radio interview, Florida Senate President and U.S. Senate candidate Mike Haridopolos issued a statement saying he supports the thrust of Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget plan, but that “it must be amended to provided greater protections for Seniors.” #
His spokes-folks went on to clarify further, telling The Miami Herald that he would vote against the plan in its current form. #
That position puts him at odds with at least one of his Republican primary opponents: Adam Hasner has come out repeatedly in favor of Ryan’s plan. #
The Ryan budget has become something of a litmus test for some Republicans, but others have backed away from its proposed changes to Medicare, which are unpopular. Democrats are using the Medicare proposal as ammunition that could prove potent in senior-heavy Florida. #
