Not shying away from controversy, anti-abortion rights media group Life Always, which shares the same owner as anti-abortions rights media group Heroic Media, has come up with a new anti-abortion billboard campaigntargeting the African-American community, this one featuring President Barack Obama’s face and the slogan: “Every 21 minutes, our next possible leader is aborted,” as the Huffington Postinitially reported.
Life Always issued a press release on Monday announcing the new billboard campaign, which will be paired with a press conference in Chicago scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m., featuring two Life Always board directors, pastor Stephen Broden and the Rev. Derek McCoy, along with the Rev. Caesar Le Flore and the Rev. Isaac Hayes.
The first of approximately 30 billboards displaying the president’s image will be erected during the conference at an empty parking lot at 5812 S. State St., on Tuesday at 11 a.m., said Life Always spokesperson Marissa Gabrysch. The others will begin popping up around the president’s hometown — specifically in heavily concentrated African-American neighborhoods on the South Side.
The billboard is the product of ThatsAbortion.com, a project of Life Always. Former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson and Heroic Media founder Brian Follet are also on the Life Always board of directors.
Earlier this year, The Texas Independentreported that Life Always had erected a billboard in Manhattan read, “The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb,” with an image of the young African-American girl in the foreground. Life Always took downthe billboard after it prompted outrage from local residents and agreed to stop using the imageof the girl after her mother protested.
