Obama’s visit comes just days before the midterm elections. Perriello is in a tight race with his Republican opponent, state Sen. Robert Hurt. Hurt has criticized Perriello for being the “rubber stamp” of the Obama administration and the visit will likely play into those criticisms. Perriello, a freshman Democrat, has caught flackin his conservative Virginia district for voting for the House health care and cap-and-trade bills.
