Environmentalists Call for Strong Fuel Efficiency Standard

A coalition of 19 environmental groups sent a letter to President Obama today encouraging him to require that cars made after 2025 meet a 60 mile-per-gallon fuel efficiency standard.

Natural Resources Defense Council Executive Director Peter Lehner, in a blog today, said this goal is achievable.

OPEC Cuts Oil Production

Since oil prices plummeted to below $70 a barrel, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries has been talking about cutting oil production to respond to a demand that just keeps dropping. Today, OPEC is doing it. It announced a plan to cut oil output by 1.5 million barrels.
