Rove and Miers Agree to Testify on U.S. Attorney Firings
At long last, former White House counsel Harriet Miers and Bush aide and adviser Karl Rove have agreed to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on their knowledge of and involvement in the U.S. Attorney firing scandal.
The Pelosi Plot Thickens
For those of you who missed it, MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show last night featured a terrific and news-breaking interview with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), in which Pelosi talked about, among other things, holding Bush administration officials criminally accountable.
Karl Rove Subpoenaed … Again
It’s official: the House Judiciary Committee has once again subpoenaed Karl Rove, former President George W. Bush’s longtime adviser and aide, to testify before the committee on the politicization of the Justice Department and his involvement in the prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman (D).
Rove’s prior refusals to testify were based on claims of [...]
Who’s in Charge — Bush or Obama?
President George W. Bush’s former aide and adviser, Karl Rove, has reportedly been instructed to ignore another congressional subpoena, this one issued earlier this week by Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan). According to Newsweek, Bush’s lawyer, former White House counsel Fred Fielding sent a letter Jan. 16 to Rove’s lawyer, Robert Luskin, instructing him that [...]
Obama to Face First Big Test on Executive Privilege
After Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) re-subpoenaed Karl Rove, former aide and adviser to President George W. Don Siegelman (D), Rove’s lawyer Tuesday asked the Obama White House for guidance, The Huffington Post [...]

Being a serial plagiarist may no longer be the professional equivalent of a hair shirt. Look at Vice President Joe Biden. Good thing for ex-Bush administration political operative Tim Goeglein too.
He’s been named the top Washington lobbyist for Focus on the Family, according to a little-noticed “comings and goings” political column in the Fort Wayne [...]

Won’t you be his follower? I signed up, and Karl was nice enough to respond.
Iglesias Encouraged by Direction of U.S. Attorney Probe
Of the nine dismissals in the U.S. attorney scandal, the firing of former New Mexico U.S. Atty. David Iglesias was probably the most blatantly partisan.
A Justice Dept. inspector general report released last week concluded that Iglesias was forced to leave because he didn’t pursue public corruption and voter fraud cases that New Mexico Republicans wanted [...]
What About the Attorneys Who Weren’t Fired?
Arthur Davis (D-Al.) made a point at a House Judiciary Committee hearing today that’s been overlooked in the resurfacing of the fired U.S. attorney scandal: What about the federal prosecutors who weren’t ousted?
The Justice Dept. internally investigated how the White House/Justice Dept. decided which U.S. attorneys were considered disloyal to the Republican Party and should [...]
