Righty activist author Jerome Corsi’s latest anti-Obama book, “Where’s the Birth Certificate?” is climbing the ranks at Amazon. It’s now reportedly number 22 with a bullet. The Obama reelection campaign is using news of the book release to fundraise. WorldNetDaily, internet birther headquarters and also publisher of Corsi’s book, is using the Obama fundraising campaign to promote the book. The back and forth is sad and entertaining and will generate a lot of revenue on both sides. U-S-A!

“If what Barack Obama released is really a valid birth certificate that answers all the questions about this controversy, why is the Obama campaign in attack mode on Jerome Corsi’s bestselling book?” asks WorldNet CEO Joseph Farah in a promotional email.

The Obama campaign is selling tee-shirts and coffee mugs that bear a smiling photo of the president above the words “Made in the USA.” There is an image of the birth certificate on the reverse side.

“[Obama] fears [this book] is his undoing,” explains Farah. “Do you really think the $1 billion Obama campaign cares about selling a few coffee mugs? Give me a break. This is an effort to derail media attention from a successful book and media tour that is focusing renewed attention on his ineligibility for office.”

Like WorldNet, the Obama campaign is having fun promoting its product on the post-birth certificate birther wave.

BarackObama.com sent out an ask this morning with the subject line: “You’ll like this.”

“Let me introduce you to Jerome Corsi,” says the email. “This week he released a new book that the publisher says will be a bestseller ‘of historic proportions.’ The title is ‘Where’s the Birth Certificate?’ – yes, really.

“Corsi’s work is a greatest-hits reel of delusions, ranging from 9/11 conspiracies to claiming that there is an infinite supply of oil in the Earth’s core. In 2008, he published a book about Barack Obama claiming, among other things, that he (a) is a secret Muslim; (b) is secretly anti-military; (c) secretly dealt drugs; and (d) secretly supported terrorist actions when he was eight years old. So many secrets.”

“The only thing we can do is laugh at it — and make sure as many other people as possible are in on the joke.”

Limited edition tee shirts available for early donors!

Colorado has been marked out by the Obama reelection campaign as a key battleground on which the campaign intends to dedicate significant resources. It was also a major midterm election Tea Party state last year where GOP “rising star” politician Cory Gardner dabbled in birtherism on the stump in the fourth district.

The Corsi book tour will likely arrive here just ahead of the Obama campaign grassroots army any day now. Look for competing billboards in different colors with different fine print that say the exact same thing: “Where’s the Birth Certificate?”

Rep. Michele Bachmann is the first potential presidential candidate to confirm that she will speak at Freedom Jamboree, a tea party “nominating convention for the offices of President and Vice President” to be held in Kansas City in September. The convention has already drawn a motley crew of personalities, including Minnesota’s own Bradlee Dean of You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International ministries.

Freedom Jamboree announced on Monday that Bachmann would be speaking at the event and she will join other notables such as Kris Kobach, Kansas Secretary of State and author of Arizona’s controversial SB 1070.

Bachmann is the only presidential candidate to confirm. Others who have been invited include Tim Pawlenty, Sarah Palin, Herman Cain and Ron Paul.

Bachmann will share the stage with Bradlee Dean of You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, a religious group from her district that advocates the incarceration of gays and lesbians and once described Muslim countries that execute gays as “more moral” than American Christians. Also on hand will be prominent “birther” Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily, movement conservative David Horowitz, anti-Islam activist Joe Kaufman, and conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi.

It won’t be the first time that Bachmann has shared the stage with Bradlee Dean. In 2009, she headlined a fundraiser for the group and prayed for their ministry.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) will headline September’s Taking America Back conference, an event that includes notable “birthers” Jerome Corsi, Aaron Klein, Joseph Farah and Alan Keyes. In fact, of the 15 speakers, at least nine have expressed doubt that President Obama was born in the United States.

The event, to be held in Miami from Sept. 16 to 18, offers attendees a choice between “the world of standards and morality, self-government and accountability to God or the world of tyranny and ever-changing moral codes enforced by government.” The 15 speakers include a who’s who of the “birther” movement, and many have ties to the conservative website WorldNetDaily, which is the event’s sponsor. That site’s managing editor and a conference speaker, David Kupelian, penned the piece, “Why I care about Obama eligibility issue.”

Kupelian’s boss, WND founder Farah, is also outspoken in his belief that Obama might not have been born in the United States. Farah has been instrumental in plugging Corsi’s book, Obama Nation, which questions the legality of an Obama presidency.

Other Farah employees who are speaking: Floyd Brown, who says there’s no proof Obama was born in the the country, and Aaron Klein, who has written a book doubting Obama’s legitimacy. Also invited to address the confab is Gary DeMar, president of American Vision, a small religious right outfit who has doubts about Obama’s legitimacy.

“Whether Barack Obama was born in the United States is important, but even more important is for him to demonstrate his constitutional loyalty to a nation built on Christian principles,” DeMar wrote in 2009.

Keyes, the perennial Senate and presidential candidate, refuses to refer to Obama as “president” and has filed suit to gain access to Obama’s birth certificate.

Also speaking alongside Bachmann is former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), who shares similar views with birthers, having once said, “Send Obama back to Kenya.”

Only one speaker — Ann Coulter — has the distinction of taking a firm public stance against “birtherism.” She called the movement’s proponents “cranks,” yet she’ll be sharing the stage in Florida with a lineup that includes a majority of so-called “cranks.”

As will Bachmann, whom Farah described Sunday as “one of the leaders in calling for a repeal of Obamacare.”

“She’s a rock star, a principled, liberty-loving woman of conviction,” he wrote. “It will be a treat to see her and hear her and interact with her in Miami.”

There is now literally nothing left of Corsi’s report. Nothing at all. Will he retract it and issue the full and frank apology that his readers deserve? Or will, instead, the smear linger, in the hope of being picked up by Glenn Beck?

On Aug. 4, President Obama’s birthday, WorldNetDaily released and began shipping “A Question of Eligibility.” It’s an hour-long documentary produced by an “award-winning team” who chose, naturally, to, keep their identities “secret for fear of retribution from the administration.” To call it a “rip-off” would be to go easy on it; it’s the “birther” equivalent of the X-ray specs and sea monkeys kids ordered from the back pages of “Action Comics.”

For starters, less than half of the film deals with the conspiracy theories about Obama’s birth. Most of the footage is taken from cable news coverage of the president’s election and first months in office. At the height of its sloppiness, the producers use, in its entirety, a video that Media Matters put together to mock Fox News coverage of the president’s first 100 days. You can spot the rip-off because the blue bars and white text that Media Matters mark the 100 days with are still on the screen. Where the liberal group meant to mock the hyperbolic rhetoric of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and the rest of the network’s line-up, WND treats this like pages from the Gospels.

Then there’s the coverage of the “birther” conspiracies, which are pretty slapdash and depend on interviews with only three people: Alan Keyes, Jerome Corsi, and Janet Porter. (The latter two are WND writers.) Orly Taitz, whose name has been used to promote the film, only appears in ambient audio clips and in the already well-watched footage of her angrily demanding to Chief Justice John Roberts that the Supreme Court look at her latest bungled legal filing.

Should the poor quality of the film be a surprise? Probably not, but what does it say that WND is charging $17.99 for its product? For that price, you could grab a Blu-Ray copy of “Slumdog Millionaire.” Of course, the 2008 Oscar-winner doesn’t include a shot like this:

Part one of the film is here:

Sadly, I missed this moment from the CPAC main stage, from Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media:

At least in the 1980s, we knew that our president was born in the United States.

Ironically, I missed this because I had run into Jerome Corsi, author of The Obama Nation and a proponent of alternative (i.e. wrong) theories of where President Obama was born. I asked Corsi if he was still investigating this.

It continues to be an issue, and the Obama administration thinks it can keep it under the rug, and that the Supreme Court will continue to ignore it. A couple members of the military have now joined suits on the argument that, as commander-in-chief, he needs to have met the Constitutional arguments to be president. It’s a really a pretty simple issue. I have investigated and looked into the issue that Obama may have been born outside the United States, in Kenya, but I don’t know what’s on the birth certificate. I just know that politicians who refuse to release primary documents are hiding something. It may be a deep secret about his parentage.

Corsi’s investigation has included some widely challenged reporting on alleged contact between Obama and Rail Odinga, the prime minister of Kenya — which he stands by — and he said he was still working the story. After we spoke, he went across the hall to sign copies of his book.
