This thread at the Right Side of Life, keying off of a FreeRepublic.com thread, is actually a pretty useful look at the way facts bounce off of the “birther” community like so many eggs off of a Humvee.

David Wiegel (sic) is a regular poster at the Politijab Forum.

Actually, no: I joined the site in order to read the threads at that superlative Web forum for “birther”-debunkers. I’ve never posted a comment there.

The rest of the argument posits that “Politijab is an astroturf site” because its inbound links come from AOL News, Daily Kos, Topix, and Democratic Underground. How that proves that the site is astroturf, I have no earthly idea.

You can draw your own conclusions, however a betting man would find favorable odds that a one “David Weigel” is part of the fraud campaign.

The “fraud campaign” is a new conspiracy theory, which argues that David Bomford’s birth certificate (used to forge the infamous “Kenyan birth certificate”) is itself a forgery, despite David Bomford’s acknowledgment that it’s real, and despite the failure of anyone responsible for the “Kenyan” certificate to come forward. One more reason to doubt that even the release of every Obama record would please the birthers; with the Bomford certificate, they have a genuine document that predates this conspiracy theory, and their forums are abuzz with “proof” of how it’s forged.

It’s been a bad 24 hours for the “birthers,” but that hasn’t slowed down the monster FreeRepublic.com thread on the forged “Kenyan birth certificate.” Jemian cracks the code:

I was thinking today that the Aussie doc might be the fake one. THEN, I read the story about Hillary going to Kenya.

Hmmm, thought I. Why would she be going to Kenya if that were a fake BC?

Watch the opposition. They often give away the game.

“Peter Horry” wonders if the Clintons will go back to their old murderous ways.

Orly Taitz seems to be very close to the truth, or she is the flake that some people claim. I find it very interesting that Hillary Clinton has been placed in the middle of this, wonder why.

It won’t be long now, If Taitz fails it will be very difficult for her, or anyone else to pick up the pieces….. assume “crash positions”

“Natural Born 54″ delves into the brand-new (really, it’s about 15 hours old) science of “debunking” David Bomford’s birth certificate.

Noticed something even more obvious by zooming in an image program. Looked at the lines, especially the horizontal lines. They pass over the creases with no distortion at all – dead straight. No way they look right to me. They also just don’t look right period. The horizontal lines don’t cross over or under the vertical ones, they stop at the vertical line without touching it (not always but mostly) and then continue on the other side of the vertical line in a slightly different horizontal alignment.

But I don’t go into FR threads for this sort of thing. “Birthers” have been wary of accepting a bogus document that would discredit their movement, so people like “Vera Lex” end up finding new problems with the “Kenyan birth certificate.”

The biggest problem with the Kenyan document is the ‘4s. 6d.’ (4 shillings and 6 pence) in the top left-hand corner. However, as a discussion on the other thread pointed out, Kenya uses (and used) cents not pence. Unless there is an explanation for this then, regardless of the status of the Bomford certificate, the Kenyan document must be a forgery and remains ‘out of action’.

Insult to injury: The conspiracy site WorldNetDaily, which had the image of the forged certificate first, is running a poll and asking readers whether they think it’s genuine. As of 9:30 a.m., opinion was running 4-1 against, with a plurality of readers saying “even if this Kenya document isn’t real, I’m still convinced Obama is hiding something huge about who he really is.”

Greg Sargent asks whether the unanimously passed Hawaii statehood anniversary resolution in the House will “reveal how absurd it is for Lou Dobbs to continue to turn CNN’s airwaves over to birthers.” We don’t know how it will affect the birthers themselves, but the reaction from FreeRepublic, a conservative activist site, isn’t promising.

Instead of a resolution maybe they could just show the original BC? Would that not be much simpler?

A resolution could say he came from Mars (or Venus?). Wouldn’t make it so.

WHAT is going on here! This is like Senate Resolution 511. It smacks of desperation.

THIS CONFIRMS MY BELIEF THAT THE LEFT WANTS TO KEEP THIS ISSUE ALIVE TO DISTRACT FROM THE OBAMACARE OBAMA-NATION.

So instead of writing a resolution demanding Obama to present proof of his Constitutional elibility, they write one declaring their OPINION on the matter. Fishy, very fishy.

now a member of the house is on record as objecting and could cause this to be heard by committee and could possibly actually force them (Ospamma) to produce a legal document proving it. To keep the resolution from being reversed as unconstitutional Or possibly causing the Supreme to hear the case

This resolution is like sticking a knife in the back of Americans, then twisting it.

And finally:

Actually, a piece of legislation like this would be great fodder for continuing the court cases seeking rememdy for the birth cert issue.

It would make it easier for a court to order Hawaii to release the birth cert….since now any birther can claim they need the birth cert. to prove that the govt was wrong in their resolution

Like this will ever end.

Maj. Stefan F. Cook, who is refusing to be deployed because of his belief in conspiracy theories about President Barack Obama’s citizenship, is a member of, and frequent poster at, the conservative Website FreeRepublic.

Cook, who posts under the name “roaddog727,” revealed his identity in a post about the veteran networking site Together We Served.

He’s been a member of the site for nearly six years; on his profile page he calls himself a “staunch Republican and defender of the faith” and lists his favorite authors as “Robert A. Heinlein, Larry Niven, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Tom Clancey (sic), John Milton.”

Cook wasn’t always so worried about deployment. In February 2005, he informed fellow Freepers that he’d gotten new orders.

Cook’s FreeRepublic posts are all over the map, from IT issues to global warming denialism.

He put out early hints that he was working with Orly Taitz. In March, he posted an incoherent white paper on Obama’s citizenship, appending a message to fellow Freepers.
