Palin: Report Saying I Broke the Law Vindicates Me

By | 10.13.08 | 9:53 am

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — I was surprised to see Gov. Sarah Palin’s response to the Troopergate report released on Friday. The governor seems to think that the report, which concludes she violated a state ethics law, actually vindicates her.

Here’s what Palin told the Anchorage Daily News:

McCain Plays It Cool, Doesn’t Change the Game

By | 10.07.08 | 11:33 pm

Sen. John McCain came into the second presidential debate tonight in Nashville in a position of weakness — trailing nationally and slipping in the swing states. He was looking for what the pundits refer to as a “game-changer,” a big win that stops Sen. Barack Obama’s forward momentum and recasts More…

Palin Family Could Apply for Free Federal Health Care

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — When Gov. Sarah Palin said during the vice presidential debate Thursday that her family has gone through periods where they’ve been uninsured and she understands what it’s like for Americans “to sit around the kitchen table and try to figure out how are they going to pay More…

McCain to Interpret Palin Tonight via Simultaneous Translation

By | 10.02.08 | 12:40 pm

Gov. Sarah Palin’s words in her debate tonight evening with Sen. Joseph Biden, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, will be piped into America’s ears through GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain in a simultaneous translation. This was not meant to muzzle Palin’s spontaneous conversation, McCain asserted, but to prevent any Al More…

The Associated Press has been digging into Gov. Sarah Palin’s record as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, to find some astonishing examples of ethically questionable behavior.

The most remarkable is a push by Palin in 2002 to pass a zoning exception, which she ultimately received, so that she could sell More…

In a hastily called press conference in response to Sen. John McCain’s announcement that he will temporarily suspend his campaign to focus on the Wall Street crisis, Sen. Barack Obama said he would prefer that Friday’s presidential debate go forward as planned. Obama also gave no indication More…

McCain and the Aircraft Lobby

By | 09.10.08 | 1:46 pm

At 12:01 a.m. Pacific time Saturday, 27,000 Boeing Co. machinists, protesting a lack of job security, went on strike. A lengthy walkout would halt the assembly of several pricey Boeing planes, including its 777.

The aeronautic giant’s 777 is supposed to have enough fuel capacity to win the Air Force’s More…

Fred Thompson’s second chance

By | 09.04.08 | 9:25 am

On a bus between Minneapolis to St. Paul–Where was this a year ago?

That was the only response I could ultimately come up with after watching former Tennessee senator and Republican presidential nominee Fred Thompson address his party’s national convention from a Cleveland hotel bar Tuesday.

He was folksy, direct, More…

Great Expectations

By | 09.04.08 | 6:00 am

St. Paul, Minn.–Yesterday afternoon, when Sen. John McCain descended the stairs of his flying “Straight Talk Express” onto the tarmac in Minneapolis, greeted by members of his family as well as his running-mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, 44, and her family, he walked out onto what had become very rough More…

McCain’s Dan Quayle?

By | 09.03.08 | 7:13 pm

Democrats have been relishing every minute since Sen. John McCain announced that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would be his vice presidential running mate. The attacks have been fast and furious. Palin lacks experience; she has ties to the far right; she has scandals lurking in her personal background.
